University Growth Initiative

In 2007, AFA began the University Growth Initiative in an effort to broaden the base of colleges and universities participating in AFA Leader Development Programs. The Initiative, supported by Monsanto, gives colleges and universities the opportunity to enter their top student leaders into AFA leader development programming.

Grants provide funding for the following:

Participation of up to 3 students per campus in the AFA Leaders Conference in Kansas City, Missouri, at the Sheraton Kansas City at Crown Center. (Grant covers all costs associated with program registration and materials, lodging and meals.)

Student travel stipend; amount will be determined on need and availability of allocated funds

Administrator travel stipend; amount will be determined on need and availability of allocated funds

Campus visit by AFA Staff, post-conference for student administration debrief, evaluation and dialogue on continuing the AFA-university partnership

Additional Grant Parameters:

AFA requires completion of online application in which university demonstrates their commitment to student leader and career development

If selected, University commits to involvement, commitment and participation of the Associate and/or Dean level to review AFA and associated programs and services

The University Growth Initiative grant provides funds for participation for one year only. Selected universities may not participate in subsequent years. Universities that are not selected may re-apply in subsequent years.
