AFA is committed to being a value-added partner in the development process of your students. Helping individuals who are passionate about food and agriculture (or just finding their interest in food and agriculture), to nurture their talent and build the career skills necessary to compete in a global market place is AFA’s mission.
As AFA prepares to host over 750 students from around the country, we invite you to take advantage of the opportunity and have students from your university participate. The AFA Leader Development model is intended to compliment a student’s formal academic experience. The conference agenda helps attendees build skills in the areas of personal assessment, career preparation, communication, managing change, and preparing to live and work in a global marketplace. Additionally, students will have the ability to interact with industry leaders on a 2-to-1 ratio, while building a lifelong network with other young people preparing for careers in food and agriculture.
How does our college or university get involved?
Become An Investing Partner
AFA invites you to become an investing partner in the development of future leaders in food and agriculture. As an investing partner, the normal conference fee of $1,000 is made available to your student(s) for only $500. AFA commits to leveraging your contribution with matching funds made available by many generous individual, community and industry partners that support AFA.
This fee includes program registration, lodging and meals for the duration of the Conference program (travel is the responsibility of the student and/or university).
The deadline for reservations is August 26, and spots are limited. Upon receipt of your reservation form, further details for your student(s) registration will be provided.
Encourage Students To Apply For Industry Sponsorship
If you are not able to financially support student participation, or in addition to your university becoming an investing partner, there are sponsorships for student participation available through AFA industry partners. Sponsorships include program registration, lodging and meals (travel is not included). We ask that you market this to your students to make them aware that the agri-industry has an interest in their personal and professional development. Specific sponsorship opportunities are available for career interests and ethnic diversity. Applications for sponsorship are typically available in late Spring, with the deadline being in early September.
All AFA student participants, regardless of their funding into the program, will be eligible for pairing with an AFA industry partner. The pairing program allows for organizations to make direct connections with students interested in learning more about their respective organizations.
