AFA values the input and leadership of today’s youth and annually selects students to serve as members of the AFA Student Advisory Team and as Campus Ambassadors. This group of young men and women serve as ambassadors of AFA on a local or national scale, and the Student Advisory Team is also responsible for assisting AFA with planning and hosting the AFA Leaders Conference. Their goal is to prepare a program that provides an expansion of a student’s academic, leadership and work experiences.
The AFA Student Advisory Team serves as organization ambassadors, assists staff in the planning and facilitation of the AFA Leaders Conference and related events, and acts as student advisors for the organization. Additionally, AFA Student Advisory Team members assume the same responsibilities as a Campus Ambassador when it comes to the health of AFA relationships on their campus.
The AFA Student Advisory Team staffs the AFA Leaders Conference. Members of the Student Advisory Team will experience team leadership and interaction, media and communications training, interaction with corporate and association leaders, public speaking training and experience, exposure to career opportunities and be eligible for an AFA academic scholarship. AFA Campus Ambassadors are responsible for the health and promotion of ongoing relationships with their college campus and AFA. Ambassadors organize and facilitate campus meetings to increase awareness of AFA programs to students and faculty. They support AFA Campus Champions, which are campus faculty or staff liaisons to AFA, in these and additional efforts. Campus Ambassadors assist in pre-conference activities including on-site support. AFA Campus Ambassadors also undergo media and communications training held in conjunction with the May meeting of the Student Advisory Team. Ambassadors receive paid registration to the AFA Leaders Conference or Alliance Forum in the year of their service and are eligible for an academic scholarship. Learn More.
