At AFA, we build bridges for young leaders to foster engagement and innovation in food and agriculture.
Founded in 1996 by R. Crosby Kemper, Jr., and other agri-business leaders, AFA offers leader and career development training and academic scholarships for men and women pursuing a career in an agriculture-related field.
AFA men and women share the belief that the production, processing and distribution of food and fiber, with support for agriculture business services, are vital for our nation’s economy, both now and in the future.
These student leaders and young professionals benefit from AFA’s unique ability to forge rich, relevant connections with high-integrity industry leaders, stimulating professional and intellectual development and creating a mentorship model that enables lifelong learning.
AFA’s existing partnerships with rural communities, corporations, foundations, colleges, universities, and individuals that support academic development, leader development and career development creates an atmosphere that stimulates the development of professionalism, intrapreneurialism and intellectualism.
AFA Leader Development Model
AFA invests in young men and women that share three characteristics – they are talented, passionate and committed to a career in agriculture. We deliver the programs, experiences and connections that stimulate leader development and fuel passion in order to equip tomorrow’s leaders to shape agricultural innovation for the betterment of the world.
